The advantage of traveling by bike and boat is that we can reach some of the most remote and unspoilt areas. Places where the people are genuine and welcoming and nature is respected and preserved.
We at Cyclando have compiled our list of “Best Bike and Boat Tours by Sea”. Throughout the years, we have tried and tested many, but these are the European bike and boat destinations that have become our favorites.
Italy

Our list starts with Italy, our homeland. After traveling the world, we always return, and home is where the heart is (and where our stomachs are most satisfied!). The colors and flavors of the Mediterranean Sea are irreplaceable. The Aeolian Islands off Sicily live in the shadow of the mighty Stromboli, one of Italy’s most active volcanos. Do not miss seeing the Sciara del Fuoco, the natural lava flow from the volcano down to the sea. The islands of Panarea, Lipari and Vulcano all have unique landscapes. You may not want to return!

The island of Adriatic Sea Hvar is known for its harbors full of posh motor yachts and extravagant parties but the inviting artist colony of Stari Grad or the unassuming village of Jelsawill calm your soul. Up until 1989, Vis, the most remote of islands, was off-limits to tourists. Today it is a natural paradise. The island of Korčula not only holds ancient treasures but also a hidden secret: set apart from the medieval town center, there are miles and miles of vineyards covering the countryside. Korčula is not only famous for their stunning white beaches but also for refreshing white wines.

Would Amsterdam be the same without bicycles? The bike and cruise holiday is Dutch tradition and the best way to see the country. The quiet landscapes in the ‘Green Heart’ of Holland will bring back fond memories of childhood storybooks. The island of Texel sits off the shore in the North Sea. Farm villages, a picturesque harbor and white dunes are so enchanting they seem unreal. Alkmaar is famous for its Friday morning cheese market where you can buy Edam and Gouda cheese. Sailboats from all over the world are kept neat and tidy at the Medemblik harbor or at Enkhuizen, the largest marina in the Netherlands. The region of Waterland has hundreds of small lakes and tiny canals. Volendam is a small fishing village in the area where the residents keep their traditions alive by wearing traditional Dutch clothing. Rotterdam offers both a charming old town center with boutiques and cafés as well as a modern financial district with skyscrapers and posh hotels. A visit to the Netherlands is not complete seeing the nineteen windmills of Kinderdijk.
